ABOUT US
Our story begins in 1995 when Speedworld Indoor Racing, Inc. (now doing business
as Electra Motorsports) was founded. Our development team spent the next two
years designing and testing a racing system specifically for the indoor racing
market. We began by analyzing the extremely successful European indoor karting
market. After careful consideration of each aspect of the track environment,
we realized that it was necessary to make major changes in order to operate
indoor go kart tracks in the USA and Canada. The biggest obstacle to overcome
was the propulsion system - specifically the use of gasoline to drive the karts.
Although it may be possible to open some locations that feature gas-powered
karts, liabilities, legal restrictions, and economics do not make this a very
viable option.
Enter the Electra Kart! Our custom-built electric kart is designed
to be safe, durable, and handle exceptionally. Our kart incorporates every feature
offered by other manufacturers, but also includes a number of new proprietary
benefits. To top it all off, the Electra Kart is manufactured and serviced in
the USA - specifically San Diego, CA.
To prove our concept, we opened a research
and development track in Santee, CA in October of 1997. This allowed us to test
our designs on a working model track. We are proud to announce that we exceeded
our expectations in every aspect and in 1999 decided to concentrate our efforts
into solely manufacturing and making our products available to all karting entrepreneurs.
We now sell to customers all over the USA and want to welcome the rising number
of operators seeking the financial and exciting benefits of battery-operated
karts.
Our factory is based in Santee, CA (a suburb of San Diego). We occupy
a 10,000 sq ft building, approximately 30 minutes from downtown San Diego. We
